A large portion of our culture in America has a misconception of truth. Truth is no longer absolute, it is relative. They have accepted a world philosophy which is lacking of healthy core values. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” (Colossians 2:8). This world is blind to the truth about eternal life through Christ. I believe God has selected us to bring this truth to our friends, relatives, coworkers, and even strangers. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians, that through Christ we’ve been given a ministry of reconciliation and are His ambassadors.
Reflecting on Christmas, realize the best gift we can present to our friends is this gift of salvation through Christ. But before you go to a man about the Man, be sure to go to the Man about the man. Prior to speaking with them, ask God to remove the veil and allow them to receive the truth, which you are attempting to share. Remember the world has blinded them to the truth. Don’t make the mistake of speaking at them; rather, speak into their belief system.
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15). As we share that hope which we have of eternal life through Christ, clarify that grace is a gift from God. “For it is by grace that we have been saved… not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). What a glorious gift salvation is. Ask God to give you the perfect opportunity and the words to share this gift with your loved ones.
Remember, Jesus did not say that he was a way to heaven, but the only way. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6). The world’s philosophy suggests that there are many ways into heaven. This is one of Satan’s many lies. I pray that God uses you to deliver the best gift this holiday season, and that He lifts the veil from the eyes of those you will speak to.
