All Things New

As we move into the New Year, I’m reflecting on the word “New”. More than any year I can remember, I’m hoping for a fresh start in 2021. The words of Isaiah 43:19 ring loudly in this regard: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” I don’t know about you, but my perception seems dimmed by the “wear and tear” of the past year, so I’m asking God for the “eyes to see” and the “ears to hear”. The way forward seems cluttered with all of the recent challenges around health vulnerability, economic disruption, social unrest, and political polarization. Nonetheless, God is bigger than all of this, and He brings opportunity in every difficulty. Let’s pray, together, for the wisdom and the courage to step forward successfully in our broken world; to earn “the favor” of the people as we reflect the best of the Church; to be the light in the darkness, the hope for the discouragement, and the solutions amidst the problems. In Jesus’ name we pray – AMEN!
