In Revelation 21:5, John sees Jesus seated on a throne declaring, “Behold I make all things new.” The broader context is God’s promised new heaven and new earth, finally unveiled after the painful consequences of The Fall, recounted in Genesis 3. All of creation has longed for this day of freedom from sin (Romans 8:19), where there will be no more death, mourning or pain. In our current state we believers are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), capable of serving and pleasing God (Galatians 2:20), but confronted with the reality of a fallen, broken world around us.  It is in this reality that we find a deeper purpose in our work. We can bring heaven to earth, in the here and now, by redeeming the world around us wherever our sphere of influence takes us.  Each of holds a different position at work, but work positions all of us to advance God’s Kingdom – the world as God would want it to be, rather than the world as it is. In this New Year, seize the opportunity to be a change agent for Christ!!
