I’d be a rich man if I had a dollar for every time a working Christian has told me they want to “quit” a job to “go into full-time ministry”. This statement implies that there is no ministry in the vast majority of the jobs we Christians hold, from business to education to government. Nothing could be further from the truth! God has strategically deployed us to BE the church wherever we work, and we advance God’s Kingdom when we serve as redemptive “change agents” at work. It is through mature working Christians that we establish more ethical business practices, more wholesome educational curricula, more just legislation and governance. Only 1% of working Christians are employed in local churches and faith-based non-profits; 99% of us are employed everywhere else. No matter what position we hold at work, it is a platform spiritually to do nothing less than “bring heaven to earth”, just the way Jesus prayed in the Lord’s prayer. Let’s step up, and step out, in our Kingdom assignments at work!
