New and improved

“A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful.  He will give light to those who live in the dark and in death’s shadow. He will guide us into the way of peace.” – Luke 1:78-79

We journey into 2024 with a world of “hot spots” that fit the description of Luke 1:78-79, filled with darkness and even threat of death. None of this is new to those following global developments, but the entrepreneur in me sees opportunity from difficulty. I believe we can improve things around us, even when conditions feel overwhelming. Darkness is the absence of light, and light (John 8:12) is what we bring as the Church on mission in this New Year. When we venture out to work each day, we can offer a soothing “ministry of presence” that leverages relationships to relieve some of the surrounding pressures. War, famine and other tragedies cause avoidable deaths, but the sting of death is removed by the sacrifice of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:55-58). This motivates us yet again to spread the Good News, with the workplace as one of our most significant mission fields. I pray for God’s guidance “into the way of peace” in 2024, that working Christians everywhere would fulfill our roles as ambassadors of reconciliation in a broken and hurting world. (2 Corinthians 5:20).
