The picture shows a drawing with perspective regarding definition number one. What’s amazing is that if instead of the viewer being ON the train going down the tracks, what if the viewer is like a bird on top of one of the telephone poles looking in the same direction? Both will see the same thing in the distance, but things up close will be different. It shows that a little adjustment to how we look at the same thing can reveal a lot of new information we may not have had if we had stayed put.
Regarding meaning number two, it is the power of God and the intensity of prayer that brings us not only to be able to assess a particular situation correctly, but to rely on God to enable us to anticipate wisdom from seeing the same thing from another viewpoint. Since God sees ALL viewpoints simultaneously, He is able to help us do the same!
Remember, we won’t be able to see every viewpoint that God sees, but we don’t have to! God will bring the correct perspective to us for the purpose that He has for us at any particular moment in time.
But always remember that there will be some that we meet who will NOT change their perspective because they did not want to change their position. We can tell that from this picture; both are correct, yet NEITHER can see the other perspective. What is also in play is the attempt of many to intentionally mislead people to create division, like the artist who drew this image.
2 Chronicles 16:9 says: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.” We need to allow HIS eyes to help us “see” the view He wants us to! Then, we can DO what He wants us to DO!
“Lord, thank You for opening our eyes when we have them closed in prayer for You! How many times have we gone and proceeded in pursuit of a goal that we have NOT consulted You about? Help us, Lord! Help us to realize “short-sightedness” is from not looking through Your eyes at all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
