In my business consulting, the topic of standard operating procedures (SOPs) comes up often, particularly when exploring “best practices” for handling standardized workflow, current issues and emerging opportunities across organizations. In seeking operational standards, the truth of Scripture gives us a practical but often overlooked approach. For example, when solving relational conflicts, Ephesians 4:2-3 points to a direction – as followers of Christ, we are called to humility, gentleness, patience and camaraderie, “bearing with one another in love.”  The Bible is filled with wisdom for establishing Kingdom standards in the ways we think and act; our job here is to translate from “stained glass” to “plain glass” so that God’s truth becomes accessible in a workplace that desperately needs it!
