As American’s, we live in the fast lane. Holidays are no different; if anything, the pace is even faster during the Christmas season. I think it is important that we take a pause. The Bible says “Be still and know that I am God” Psalms 46:10. Be still and remember that we are His and that we are here to glorify Him. What greater time to do that than the Christmas holiday season. It truly is a wonderful opportunity to share Jesus with our friends and loved ones. Unfortunately, we get swept away with the hustle and bustle and we miss this opportunity.

Remember that though we are in the world, we are not of the world. It is so easy to have the culture impact us when we are called to impact the culture. The Bible reminds us of that in Philippians 3:30, “But our citizenship is in heaven.”  This time of year, is a great season to share our faith with a lost culture.  You’d be surprised how many people don’t know Jesus.  No, he’s not the fat guy with the beard, dressed in the red costume.  Here is an idea, ask your friends what they like most about Christmas.  After sharing their memories, they will probably ask you about your favorite part of Christmas.  Then share with them, the gift of salvation.  Share your story of how you surrendered your life to the King of Kings known as Jesus.  Share how you were lost and found the promise of eternal life.

Perhaps you can start a new tradition for your family and loved ones.  Sharing the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth, is a great start.  Realize that people may know about Jesus, but they may not have experienced his saving grace and surrendered to him.  Singing hymns and Christmas Carols is another great tradition.  I remember as a child, having a toy organ and playing Christmas songs.  The Bible reminds us to pass on our belief, “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:8.   If you’re having trouble moving forward with this, inquire if your church has some materials to assist you.  Allen Jackson’s Ministries has a book called, “Lead with Faith at Christmas”.  One thing is certain, as you share your faith, God will bless you.  Don’t allow the busyness of this season prevent you from sharing the greatest gift ever.  Be blessed!
