The long and winding road

When COVID hit this spring, I started walking my neighborhood for exercise during the lockdown. I was spending most of my work days in a “basement bunker”, and I needed some fresh air and fresh perspective. My ipod was along for the ride, offering music favorites from over the years, including “The Long and Winding Road” by the Beatles. One day this song began playing just as I started walking the winding part of my long path. As I looked ahead, I contemplated that path as my metaphor for work life in “non normal” 2020. During a typical year, I look for efficiencies at work – how can I do familiar projects more quickly and easily? This year, I find myself looking for adaptability – how can I navigate beyond the familiar and comfortable at work, to new experiences and destinations? This journey hasn’t been easy, but God reminds me to embrace “all things new” (Isaiah 43:18-19 and 65:17; Revelation 21:5; Ephesians 2:15 and 4:2; Hebrews 8:13). Listen as I share some related thoughts during a radio interview with Faith Marketplace.
