It was almost two decades ago when Stephen Covey first published The Speed of Trust, but its thesis is as fresh today as when it was introduced.  Relationships are at the center of high functioning faith/work communities, and trust is at the center of relationships.  Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose.  I’ve found that the single most important thing I can do in building trust with others is to seek to bless people, and then follow through on commitments.  I had expected healthy relationships throughout much of the faith at work community, but the hard truth I discovered instead is that we are far too often disconnected from each other, territorial towards each other, and transactional with each other.  The next time a new faith/work relationship emerges for you, remember to cultivate it at the speed of trust!
