My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation to Europe, including a visit to Great Britain, where I lived as a young boy in 1973.  I have vivid memories of our home in Totteridge, a suburb of London.  I traveled there using the “Underground” subway system, just as I had 52 years ago.  I walked the last bit until I was standing in front of my childhood home at 3 Greenway Close.  Much to my surprise, the current homeowner came to the front of the house for some yard work and greeted me warmly.  After I explained my story, he was excited to bring me inside to meet his wife and children.  It was surreal walking inside that home, which looked just about like it did during my era all those years ago.  My memories collided with the present.  The house was essentially the same, but I remembered it being twice as large.  Why?  Because I’m a lot bigger than I was as a 7-year-old!    I pondered the size differential and realized that there was a spiritual side to my homecoming experience.  So many times, for us at work and in life more generally, the problems or obstacles confronting us can seem so big as to even be overwhelming.  Yet as we continue to walk with the Lord and grow in our faith, we discover how much more is possible than we may have previously thought or even considered.  As it says in Ephesians 3:20, God can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”  Take heart as you confront your current challenges at work!
